Mike, who had been operating his drug business for several years before getting into the cell phone business, was forced to get rid of his associates to avoid them getting caught. He subsequently asks his hitman friend, Gale Boetticher, to find someone who might be able to help him, while helping Walt avoid a drug bust. The hitman ends up finding a man named Jack, who was hired by a low-level Colombian drug dealer who was being pressured to take down a rival by the cartel. Jack was in need of help from Mike Ehrmantraut and he hired Gale and Mike to keep his identity a secret and to help him make a clean getaway from the drug dealer.
Walt and Jesse orchestrate a visit to Hector's home by Saul and Oakley, and the trio is captured by his guards. Hector threatens to kill Oakley and Walt if they don't name their source within the DEA, and demands that Jesse kill him.
Walt decides to talk to Hector, and manages to convince him to let him and Jesse go. First, however, Walt mentions Gus' visits to Hector's house and says that he recognizes the significance of the visits to the new drug supplier. He claims that Gus is targeting the Salamanca family because Hector killed someone close to him, and that Hector is the replacement for Gus' old friend, Gustavo Fring.
